Dr. Shields, CRC
Dr. Shields is a vocational expert accepted in state and federal courts. He authored "Finding Lifestyles Through Self-Exploration," published by Kendall Hunt Publishing Company. Additionally, he is the lead author of the article "Strategies for Improving Employment Outcomes of Veterans Diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder" and co-author of "Position Paper on Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor Education Level Requirements for Providers of Transition Assessments and Career Development" in the Rehabilitation Professional, the official journal of the International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals.
Before Blue Ridge Vocational Associates, Dr. Shields worked as a vocational expert at Life Care Planners Medical Doctors. He also served as a vocational rehabilitation manager for the Office of Workers' Compensation Program, Division of Federal Employees. Additionally, he was an adjunct professor at Auburn University and Alabama State University. Currently, Dr. Shields is actively practicing and providing vocational expert services for the Social Security Administration and law firms across the nation.
He is a member of the International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals, holds the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor Certification, and is a certified PGAP provider. PGAP is a standardized program tailored to meet the rehabilitation needs of individuals struggling to overcome challenges associated with pain conditions. He has extensive experience providing tailor made vocational services to meet the unique vocational needs of each case.
